This Death Doula Has Been Busy!
Hi Everyone! It’s been a very busy couple of months. In February, I participated in the Cooperative Memorial Society’s Annual General Meeting as the featured guest speaker. After presenting virtually to 134 people, the presentation was distributed to over 17,000 other members of the organization. Wow!
The Cooperative Memorial Society is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization that helps members find dignified and economical alternatives to costly funeral services. They operate across Alberta. The CMS has a host of great resources that encompass much more than just funeral planning. I urge you to check it out. I am thinking of becoming a member myself!
In February, I was delighted to be a guest on the Millennial 911 Podcast. Megan and Alyssa, the podcast hosts, interview expert “first responders” on a variety of subjects relevant to Millennials. I have been slowly working my way through other episodes, and the content is fantastic – entertaining, informative, and has such a wonderful sense of rhythm. You can check out my interview HERE. I had such a great time with Megan and Alyssa. If you enjoy the podcast as well, please leave a comment for Megan and Alyssa on their Instagram account @mlnl911pod
These days I am seeing my wonderful clients, preparing for the workshops that start in April, and learning about sound therapy at end-of-life. On March 17th I hosted a Virtual Death Cafe on Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). When I am not focused on compassionate care, I like taking walks with my two dogs, and cooking for my family. Never a dull day!
In April and May, I will be hosting Death Cafes at the Calgary Public Library (CPL), tag-teaming with another wonderful Death Doula, Devon. A partnership between the Home Hospice Association (I am a Director for this organization) and the CPL has just begun, and I love the accessibility that the Calgary Public Library offers.
